Brian Giniewski is a Philadelphia-based ceramic designer who makes delicious looking pots that are oozing with pastel candy-colored glazes. A college professor-turned-full time maker, Brian works out of his studio at the Globe Dye Works building. His labor-intensive approach to glazing and firing is one part science and one part kiln magic. Each piece is handled dozens of times throughout the making process and is fired up to four times to achieve the viscous, drippy effect.
Brian has been working as a full-time potter since 2016. Prior to 2016, he served as Senior Windgate Fellow at Herron School of Art + Design, and also taught at Arcadia University, Penn State University and the Nova Scotia College of Art + Design. He received a MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2009 and a BFA from Millersville University in 2006. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife, Krista and their Border Collie, Jelly.
